Kids Ministry Director

Type: Full-Time

Job Overview

FBC is looking for a full time (40-45 hours per week) Kids Ministry Director to lead its ever growing children’s ministry with our church having nearly doubled in size in recent years. This position will provide vision, leadership, training, and oversight to our great team of volunteers. Currently, our Kids Ministry has approximately 140 children (nursery through grade 5) attending on Sunday mornings during two services, but has seen attendance, in the recent past, nearing 200.

This position calls for gifting and skills in leadership, administration, shepherding, serving, and hospitality. In addition, self-management, critical thinking, problem solving, being innovation minded, and having the ability to network well are all highly desired qualities for this position. Possessing strong communication and relational skills is imperative. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and smartphone technology are required. The FBC staff is currently comprised of four full time and eight part time employees. We have two campuses in Frankenmuth with our main building located in the heart of downtown and a student ministry facility located on the near west side.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a unifying vision for our Kids Ministry in unison with our church’s mission, vision, and aligning values

  • Develop and implement an effective recruitment and retention strategy to both increase the size and further strengthen the hearts of the team working in our Kids Ministry

  • Research, develop, and implement Kids Ministry leadership training, classroom management practices, and team building opportunities

  • Conduct Kids Ministry staff meetings focusing on improvement for the present, and strategizing and planning for the future

  • Explore, develop, and implement new ministry programming opportunities which are relevant and connect well with the lives of kids in today’s world

  • Develop and communicate policies and procedures for all of Kids Ministry staff, team leaders and members, and church families

  • Cultivate a culture where team members are curious, creative, and reflective about what kids are experiencing in the various learning environments on Sunday mornings

  • Participate in weekly staff meetings with other pastoral and administrative staff sharing specific Kids Ministry updates and collaborating with our team to enhance and enrich the overall ministry of our church

  • Coordinate child dedication and baptism services with the lead pastor, administrative staff, and FBC church families

  • Model consistently, through words and actions, the “heart of a shepherd” loving and caring for team members in practical ways

  • Cultivate open and supportive relationships with other churches in surrounding communities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a ministry related field

  • 3-5 years of successful leadership experience in a ministry, non-profit, or education setting

  • Possess strong communication and relational skills

  • Embrace a “growth mindset” as opposed to a “fixed mindset”

  • Be a great team player

  • Spiritual maturity, understanding our journey is never complete in this life

  • Strong working knowledge of social media including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and smartphone technology

  • Understand well the importance of character, chemistry, competence, and culture in a ministry setting

Maintenance Supervisor

Type: Part-Time

Job Overview

FBC is looking for a part time (15-20 hours per week) competent maintenance supervisor to manage the various maintenance aspects of our facilities. This individual will help ensure both sound upkeep and efficient repair operations when required.

The ideal candidate will possess basic knowledge and some technical skills of various crafts such as carpentry, plumbing, and electrical. Demonstrated leadership and knowledge of administrative tasks such as planning and scheduling are essential. Organizational and time management skills are also desired.

The overall goal of the maintenance supervisor position is to help ensure that facilities are in good and safe working condition at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect facilities periodically to identify problems and conduct preventative maintenance work when required

  • Prepare maintenance schedules for both facilities (The Grove and Main Street Campus)

  • Inspect and help ensure building systems are maintained (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, etc.)

  • Coordinate and/or conduct the removal of snow in the winter and grounds/lawn maintenance in the spring and summer months

  • Monitor inventory of materials and equipment

  • Coordinate, when necessary, renovation projects with contractors and volunteers

  • Interact, when necessary, with custodians to coordinate building maintenance with cleaning schedule

  • Comply to the fullest extent with all quality standards and health and safety regulations

 

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a maintenance supervisor or similar role

  • Technical knowledge of building systems listed above

  • Knowledge of health and safety practices and regulations

  • Basic computer and smart phone skills

  • Attention to detail and conscientiousness

  • Planning, organizing, and leadership skills

  • Solid communication skills utilizing suitable workplace language

  • Appropriate work apparel to be worn

  • Good physical condition and strength being able to stand, walk, and bend for several hours

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
