Here’s what our preschoolers are learning in July

These are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God

John 20:31

June and July are all about what we can spy with our little eyes. Get ready for I Spy! It’s a great theme that helps us see the things that help us believe in Jesus. We are helping preschoolers see so they can believe in Jesus.

It’s hard to imagine, but one day, our preschoolers will make a choice that they think is so bad they’ll wonder
if Jesus still loves them. Or, they’ll leave a classroom wrestling with what their teacher or professor just taught and how it fits with what they believe.

We want them to believe Jesus is real and know that He loves the no matter what. Jesus is who He said He is and He wants to be their friend forever.

Story – Week One

I spy someone Jesus loves no matter what!

Week one we will spy Peter telling people he is not Jesus’ friend. This is the same Peter that saw Jesus walk on water, heal the sick, and vowed to never leave Him. But, after Jesus died, Peter was so afraid that he denied being Jesus’ friend. Later, after Jesus came back, Jesus let Peter know that He still loved him, no matter what. And, Jesus loves us no matter what, too.

Here’s what our elementary kids are learning in July!

FOCUS: Take a closer look

God has always been involved in the world He created. We see His handiwork on display in creation. We see God’s love on display through Jesus, who came to rescue us. We respond to God in faith, believing in what we can’t see because of what we can see. When we focus on what we know to be true about God and the world God created, we can have faith in what we can’t see or fully understand.

“God’s grace has saved you because of your faith in Christ. Your salvation doesn’t come from anything you do. It is God’s gift.” EPHESIANS 2:8, NIrV

Story – Week One

Jesus is a gift for everyone.

We start off the month with something Paul wrote to the church in Ephesus. In Ephesians 2:8-9 we read, God’s grace has saved you because of your faith in Christ. Your salvation doesn’t come from anything you do. It is God’s gift. It is not based on anything you have done. No one can brag about earning it, (NIrV). When it comes to faith in God, everything, especially God’s gift of grace through Jesus, is a gift of love. All we have to do is accept it.

Bottom Line: Jesus is a gift for everyone. This is a simple yet powerful bottom line we pray sinks into the hearts of kids. There’s nothing we have to do to earn our Salvation. We just have to accept God’s amazing gift of grace through Jesus. We pray this is a decision every kid will make at some point in their life; maybe even this summer!
